The 144,000

The 144,000

The Watchtower Society teaches that only a restricted number of persons will be allowed to enter heaven. This doctrine is based on verses in the Book of Revelation. The Society explains that "According to Revelation 7:4 and 14:1-4, these are to number merely 144,000 individuals, the 'little flock,' called to God's heavenly Kingdom. (Luke 12:32) The selection of these especially favored ones of Jehovah God began with the selection of the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 10:2-4; Acts 1:23-26

The Return Of The Patriarchs-- 1925 C.E..

The year 1925 is here. With great expectation Christians have looked forward to this year. Many have confidently expected that all members of the body of Christ will be changed to heavenly glory during the year. This may be accomplished. It may not be. THE RETURN OF THE PATRIARCHS-- 1925 c.e. by Gerald Sigal In reference to itself the Watchtower Society states: Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can

Watchtower Society and Mind Control

Watchtower Society and Mind Control

Jehovah’s Witnesses are conditioned to think and speak as the ruling body of the Watchtower Society wishes them to. Witnesses have no individual thought or freedom of expression concerning religious belief. They must believe only the pronouncements of the Society as if they emanated from Jehovah God Himself. Through a process of circular reasoning, Jehovah’s Witnesses accept whatever the Watchtower Society tells them because the Society is God’s channel of communication. In this post we find out

What Should I Say to a Mourner?

What Should I Say to a Mourner?

Question of the Week: A friend recently lost his father, but I haven't gone to visit. I have all types of excuses, like maybe he wants to be left alone, and I'm not so close anyway, but the real reason is, I just don't know what to say in these situations. Question of the Week: What does G-d look like?

Question of the Week: What does G-d look like?

Question of the Week: My kids keep asking me theological questions I can't answer. Yesterday my five year old insisted he wanted to know "What does G-d look like?" I had no idea what to say.... Answer: Sometimes the best thing you can tell your child is "I don't know." You teach your much child more by being open about your inability to answer a question, than if you would give a half-baked answer just to get off the hook. If you don't know something, but fudge an answer, you teach a child t

Question of the Week: Is Prayer a Waste of Time?

Question of the Week: Is Prayer a Waste of Time?

I have a lot of trouble praying. I sit in synagogue and as soon as I start to read the words, my mind wanders. Even when I read the English I find it hard to focus. I suddenly start thinking about work issues or what's for dinner, anything but the prayers.  Is prayer a waste of time? Answer: Prayer can be a confronting experience. And that is exactly what it is supposed to be. Prayer is an inner battle waged between two distinct sides of your personality. Your spiritual self and your physical

It's Your Own Mess Shmuley Don't Use Me To Clean It Up

IT’S YOUR OWN MESS SHMULEY – DON’T USE ME TO CLEAN IT UP By Rabbi Michael Skobac While no doubt reveling in all the attention his recent book is receiving, Shmuley Boteach has begun feeling the heat of scrutiny that it and he are attracting. His recent attempt to invoke a booklet I wrote as support for his “Kosher Jesus” is a desperate tactic. While there may be some similarity between my “The DaVinci Code: A Jewish Perspective” and his work, Boteach surely knows that it’s a far stretch from s
